Predicting Facial Enhancement Trends for 2015

Specialist predicts facial procedure trends for 2015.

One of the things I love most about medicine is that it’s constantly changing. Each day, physicians and scientists go to work all over the world creating safer, more effective options to help the rest of us look and feel our best. As we say goodbye to 2014 and look ahead to a new year, I can’t help but wonder about the emerging aesthetic options that will see major leaps in popularity in 2015 — among both my Marietta facial plastic surgery patients and others around the country. Based on the trends of this year, here are a few of my predictions:

  • More improvements, less surgery: Today’s patients are clamoring for non-surgical treatments, and with good reason. Dermal fillers, laser treatments, and chemical peels are just a few of the options available for smoothing, tightening, and refreshing the face and neck without an incision. In 2015, I predict that we’ll not only see more additions to the non-surgical side of the practice, but that we’ll also see more ways to use them. At our practice, for example, combining injectables with laser resurfacing is a popular way to delay the need for facelift surgery. Expect to see more of that to come.
  • Targeted treatments: With the recent popularity of JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC, an injectable filler intended just for adding volume to the cheeks, I anticipate the introduction of more specialized dermal fillers formulated to treat more specific areas of the face. These options will offer patients nearly limitless options for creating a completely customized rejuvenation.
  • Educated patients: The Internet has significantly changed the way many professionals do business, and plastic surgeons are no exceptions. Review sites, social media, and other resources allow patients to do incredibly thorough research before even stepping foot in a surgeon’s office. As transparency increases, I predict that potential patients will begin to seek out more highly credentialed, board-certified plastic surgeons to get the best possible results and protect their long-term health and wellness.

Those are just a few of my guesses for 2015. What do you expect to see, or what would you like to see more of? Leave us a comment and let us know.
